A home should bring calm and simplify daily life — not create new problems. Many of our clients come to us after collecting countless sources of inspiration, ordering furniture, and comparing materials for weeks, only to find that no coherent overall picture has emerged. Pinterest offers beautiful individual images, but it is no substitute for functional spatial planning. Open-plan layouts in particular tend to produce spaces without clear structure, where light, materials, and furniture fail to work in harmony. This is precisely where our work begins.
Studio Menash develops holistic interior concepts in Berlin that bring architecture, materials, light, and function into consistent dialogue. We guide our clients from the initial analysis through to turnkey completion — from €80/m² — and can take on full construction coordination upon request.
Berlin's Altbau apartments have genuine character, but they place particular demands on quality interior design. High ceilings, long corridors, period details, and irregular floor plans are impressive at first glance, yet in everyday life they frequently result in a lack of storage, poorly lit areas, or disrupted spatial axes. Many apartments consequently lose their sense of calm and clarity, regardless of how well they are furnished.
We therefore develop bespoke spatial solutions that respect the existing architecture while introducing modern comfort. Custom built-in elements integrate storage harmoniously into the structure of a room without making spaces feel heavy. At the same time, we plan light axes and artificial lighting before the move-in date, so that rooms feel warm and balanced at every hour of the day. The result is an Altbau apartment that preserves its historical atmosphere while being fully adapted to contemporary living.

A structured process is the foundation of a stress-free renovation. Our workflow is clearly defined: analysis, spatial concept, floor plan, 3D interior visualisation, technical working drawings, and finally complete execution. As an established interior design studio in Berlin, we understand that time is your most valuable resource. For a 100 m² apartment, we plan approximately 60 working days for the design phase.
A high-quality renovation involves hundreds of simultaneous decisions: materials, colours, light, fabrics, furniture, and technical details must ultimately work together as a seamless whole. Many clients lose both time and perspective during this process, spending weeks visiting different suppliers or comparing samples online. In our Berlin showroom, we consolidate the entire material selection into one place. Together, we choose surfaces, fabrics, colours, and finishes directly within a spatial context, so our clients can immediately see how light, materials, and textures interact in practice. This structured approach prevents costly mistakes and creates confidence in the planning process. Rather than a series of isolated decisions, the outcome is a complete interior concept with a clear and consistent design direction.
The atmosphere of a room is usually judged only after moving in, even though light is a decisive factor from the very first stages of planning. Many new-build apartments feel cold or uninviting despite high-quality finishes, simply because light sources have been poorly positioned or approached too technically. In period apartments, the result is often dark corridors or uneven transitions between rooms.
For this reason, we integrate lighting design into every project from the outset. We take into account natural daylight, sightlines, materials, and the actual patterns of use within each space. In open-plan living areas in particular, precise lighting ensures that individual zones are clearly defined without visually interrupting the space. The result is a calm atmosphere that makes daily life perceptibly more pleasant.
Curtains and fabrics are often chosen at the very end of a project and treated as purely decorative afterthoughts. Yet textiles frequently have a greater impact on the feel of a room than any individual piece of furniture. They influence light, acoustics, proportions, and the overall spatial atmosphere. In our own curtain and textile atelier, we develop textile concepts from the beginning, in close dialogue with the interior architecture as a whole.
Our clients do not receive a fabric consultation or a sales experience — they work with interior designers who keep the complete picture in mind at every stage. Particularly in open-plan layouts and family homes, made-to-measure curtains introduce a sense of calm, improve acoustics, and connect separate living areas in a harmonious way. Spaces become softer, more refined, and more functional all at once.
